Forza Horizon 6 changes Barn Finds in a way you'll notice almost straight away. You're not just roaming until a rumour pops up. This time, the hunt is tied to the Discover Japan Collection Journal, so the best hidden FH6 Cars sit behind exploration progress, stamps, and a bit of proper map reading. It feels more deliberate, and honestly, it makes each dusty garage feel like something you've earned.
What to focus on first
The big thing is stamps. As you complete Japan-focused activities, your journal rank moves through seven stages, and each stage opens more Barn Find rumours. If you just drive around without pushing the journal, you'll hit a wall fast. Stories are usually the quickest way forward, but it's worth mixing in photo spots, food deliveries, Drift Club runs, touge battles, and mascot challenges so the grind doesn't feel too stiff.
  • Visitor unlocks the first Barn Find.
  • Sightseer and Traveller add early classics and oddballs.
  • Pathfinder is the first major jump, with four more cars.
  • Navigator and Adventurer bring stronger late-game finds.
  • Master Explorer is required for the final two rare machines.
Barn Find unlock path
Here's the clean version of how the stamp tiers line up with the hidden car rewards. The order is steady enough to plan around, even if your actual route across the map changes a bit depending on what you've already cleared.

Where the cars are hiding
The map spreads the 15 finds across several regions, so don't treat this like one long straight sweep. Ohtani has the NSX-R GT near a river valley hill, the Porsche tucked in bamboo, and the R390 GT1 near the Shimanoyama border. Ito is busier, with the Toyota 2000GT close to the coast, the Sierra on a wooded rise, the Diablo near a three-way junction, and the Skyline Super Silhouette along a southwestern dirt path. Nangan holds the Skyline 2000GT-R, Minamino hides the Pao, and Hokubu has the Lincoln in forest cover. Takashiro gives you the Pennzoil GT-R and Mazda 787B, while Shimanoyama covers the Peugeot, Montero Evolution, and Lancer Evolution Time Attack.
Smart hunting and restoration tips
Use ANNA or drone view once you're inside a search area, because some barns are annoyingly easy to pass by at speed. I'd also group nearby regions together instead of fast travelling after every rumour. Once found, a car still needs restoration, and rushing every job can drain your wallet. Save FH6 Credits for the cars you'll actually drive, like the Mazda 787B, R390 GT1, NSX-R GT, or Pennzoil Skyline, then let the lower-priority projects finish naturally.
